Deep in the northern provinces of Angola lies the village of Quizenga, once an important agricultural hub. This fertile region was home to cotton crops, maize, sugarcane, sweet potato, peanuts, soybeans and rice. Years of civil war, however, had caused these crops to dry up and disappear.

But there is a new wind blowing through Angola, one of positivity and change after two decades of peace. Angolans are beginning the process of healing, and so too is the land.

But like all crops, this growth needs to be nurtured and supported to properly flourish. And that is where Gemcorp is proud to lend our assistance. We've partnered with the local and national governments to establish the Quizenga Agro Industrial Production Centre.

Located in the heart of the Mulanje province, this large scale agricultural project will provide over 5000 hectares in agriculture.

And will help begin the process of restoring this region to its former levels of productivity and economic stability.

By bringing the Angola Ministry of Agriculture farming specialist IEP and ourselves into an innovative partnership. This project represents a multi $1,000,000 global investment over the next two years.

In addition to the direct revenue generated through the growing of maize and grain, this project will also require a trained and qualified workforce.

This local job creation will also help to spur on the economy further, establish and goal is renewal. By investing in local food production and creating new regional jobs Gemcorp and the Quizenga. project partners are helping to support several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and what's perhaps most exciting is that the Quizenga project can now be replicated across other formerly agriculturally rich areas of Angola and wider Africa. The success of this project is much more than just an economic win. By returning the crops to Angola, we are growing optimism and growing the chance for a prosperous future.
