The World Bank estimates that Covid-19 could push 150 million people into extreme poverty, affecting rural communities the most.

This year, we partnered with TheWorldBank to provide a deeper understanding of the impact of Covid-19 on the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities, by supporting and providing funding to a survey undertaken by their EGPS Trust Fund.

With approximately 40 million people working in the sector, ASM communities are facing the serious impact of Covid-19. From food supply, to wages and gender representation, the data collected in the survey will help partners across the world make decisions to support the sector, improving security, health and livelihood for rural communities across the world.
